It's supposed to help hasten the recovery of the economy but critics are calling it a lost opportunity.
The Federal Government has announced a $688 million HomeBuilder scheme as Australia falls into recession for the first time in almost three decades.
But the Federal Opposition says the $25,000 grants for home builders and renovators don't go far enough and social housing should be included.
Chair of Homelessness Australia, Jenny Smith, has been speaking with ABC NewsRadio's Ali Crew.
